The result of a collaboration that began when the coauthors were Congressional Fellows in 1992-93, this book argues that solutions to the problems facing children and families in the US today will be found when all the systems serving children and families converge to work toward common ends. It considers the commitment of parenting, risk factors in infancy and early childhood, traumatic experiences of childhood, adolescent risk factors and outcomes, intergenerational transmission of positive and negative development, and implication for public policy.
