Sacred Butterflies: Poems, Prayers and Practices

Through poems, prayers and practices, we can stimulate the imagination and tap into the wisdom of the heart, and thus draw sustenance for our work in the world. I have found these three modes to be trusty companions on the journey, and wish to share them with you that you may benefit from them, as well. This book is organized into three distinct sections: Let the Cosmos Speak (poems), Paying Attention to Each Sacred Moment (prayer) and Cultivating Habits of the Heart (spiritual practice). However, you will find overlap between them. For example, you can compose a prayer in the form of a poem. Or you can write a poem about the power of prayer. Similarly, the spiritual practices you choose can involve prayer or the writing of poetry. I have shared poems and prayers that emerged from my own creative process and the practices that have been of value to me. Please enjoy them, but don’t stop there. Sacred Butterflies is meant not only be read in a passive manner but to serve as an inspiration and invitation to give voice to what lies deep within.
