This is a used, hardcover book in good condition, with its original dust jacket in tact, but has some minor tear on the upper spine. Researched and edited by Ben Mackworth-Praed, Aviation divides the story of flight into 5 main periods, and dedicates a chapter to each period. Chapter 1 covers the pre 1843 era, origins of aviation, the pioneering and legendary figures involved in flight history, including Icarus, Leonardo Da Vinci, Montgolfier and Charles. Chapters 2 to 5 cover flight history, adventures and achievements from 1843 to 1938. The book includes an aviation index, an authoritative chronology of the history of flight to 1939. Page 313 has a list of the first 100 victims of aviation. Fully illustrated.
