CLEARING CARDIGAN: (Volumes III & IV) (Air Crash Report Series)
Description:
Wednesday 25th October 1854; tired, hungry soldiers of Lord Ragan's British expeditionary force awake to a chilly Russian morning only to hear Turkish guns firing down from the Causeway Heights at a massive Russian army advancing upon them and the British port of Balaclava. Five hours later and the British cavalry, under the command of the Earl of Cardigan, careered down the north plain right into the face of the Russian guns and cavalry gathered across the valley. To the astonishment of the Russian army (and no doubt Lord Raglan and his staff) the Light Brigade, despite frightful losses, attacked the guns and fought gallantly against terrible odds before retreating to safety. Had they attacked the wrong guns?
