Killing Rhinos

Killing Rhinos - Agrilot was designated as an "Agricultural Camelot", a planet where condemned prisoners would have a second chance to build a respectable life. But they were abandoned by Earth from the start, doomed to invent technology all over again. They were all alone... Or so they thought.There were no large animals on Agrilot until horrific monsters began to burst from the ground. These creatures, quickly dubbed Rhinos, seemed to have one purpose, to rip humans to shreds with their large serrated horn. From time-to-time, people disappeared without a trace. The colonists assumed Rhinos had eaten them.As time passed and people died, a "Rhino Hunter" culture grew across Agrilot. Jack Wheat was the greatest active hunter and the second best in history. But he harbored a secret as he followed his quest for the record, a secret he could not afford to have anyone discover. And Jack did not believe that Rhinos ate people. He suspected there was something bizarre happening on Agrilot, something, perhaps, even worse than the great killing machines called Rhinos.
