Final Season

When 55-year-old physician Dan Jameson suffers recurrence of the malignant lymphoma for which he has already endured radiation and chemotherapy, he decides not to go through the grueling treatment process again. He opts instead to take whatever time he has left and follow his baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles, through its 1993 season. Plans change when outside a Wisconsin diner, a young woman in her twenties asks for a ride. Janice Browning later insists on accompanying him on his journey. As they travel the country in Dan’s Toyota, they banter, sightsee, argue, share dreams, and talk about death. Over time Janice learns to appreciate Dan’s devotion to his team but refuses to let him become disengaged from life and its possibilities.
