The King's Journal (Journal Series) (Volume 1)

The King's Journal is the first installment of The Journal Series. TKJ brings together a large group of individuals with a young girl named Chelsi as the center of gravity. As she travelled with her Mother throughout the countryside of the Kingdom of Thimere, she witnessed her Mother collecting particular parchments. Chelsi figures out through a series of events that ends up separating her from her Mother, that the parchments are actually entries to The King's Journal. Through her journey in the attempt to get to her Mother after their separation, she gets into trouble, meets new people, makes friends, and through a woman sharing some entries that she had also collected, Chelsi finds her own Mother's name amongst the King's words. Time is running out and she has to find a way to get to her Mother and rescue her while trying to make sense of everything happening around her. All the while, she battles internally with her mixed feelings towards the Captain of the Guard.
