Chelsi figures out through a series of events that ends up separating her from her Mother, that the parchments are actually entries to The King's Journal. Through her journey in the attempt to get to her Mother after their separation, she gets into trouble, meets new people, makes friends, and through a woman sharing some entries that she had also collected, Chelsi finds her own Mother's name amongst the King's words. Time is running out and she has to find a way to get to her Mother and rescue her while trying to make sense of everything happening around her. All the while, she battles internally with her mixed feelings towards the Captain of the Guard.
