Othello, the Moor of Venice

Othello is a powerful tragedy written in 1603. The story revolves around four main characters--Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his beautiful wife, Desdemona; his loyal lieutenant, Cassio; and his trusted but unfaithful ensign, Iago. Dominant themes in the play include racism, love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge, and repentance.
