Martin Birck's Youth

First published in Sweden in 1901, Hjalmar S#65533;derberg's partly autobiographical second novel traces the development of his hero, an introspective would-be intellectual, from an idyllic Stockholm childhood in the 1870s to the hopes and disillusionments of early manhood. This is a new English translation of the work.
