Lincoln Street: Coming of Age in Fly-Over Country

LINCOLN STREET--a novel--is the "coming-of-age" memoir of award-winning author Billy Howard. Set in the '50s and '60s, Billy's hometown of Coffeyville, Kansas, is in the middle of America's "fly-over country." Anything but a sleepy little town, Coffeyville includes Billy's elm-shrouded and never humdrum neighborhood of Lincoln Street. Billy, his teenage classmates and adult neighbors confront life's challenges that include adolescent fun, young love, marital reality, racial tension, "Sputnik," dreams of success, and murder. These maturing influences are woven together as Billy unpacks his gripping and redemptive memories, both as a teenager and as an adult.
