Description:
Diaspora populations are now significantly reshaping many parts of the globe. Behind these moving millions however, is the hand of a sovereign and gracious God whose purpose is to draw the nations and the peoples of our world to Himself. From the earliest days of human history God has used the scattering of diaspora populations, both ancient and contemporary, to help accomplish that purpose. This book examines the characteristics of two diasporas, the ancient Jewish diaspora of the Old Testament and the contemporary Sri Lankan diaspora resident in the region of the Persian Gulf. Using the experience of the former as a framework for evaluating the experience of the latter, it illustrates the ways in which the God of nations can work in and through the world’s multiplying diasporas to accomplish His Kingdom purposes.
