Description:
Patty's narrative of her humorous, romantic, heartbreaking road trip through her life as an ordinary woman seeking the extraordinary takes her to unexpected places. Mitzy her muse rides along and competes with Patty to write essays about toilet paper, ambrosia, cat versus dog superiority, and other zany topics. But Patty and Mitzy cooperate when they expound on the mysteries of life, love, faith and death. Bratty Patty's childhood desire to become a nun clashes with reality when she falls in love, and becomes pregnant at age sixteen. She raises a large family, while she struggles to become a registered nurse. Dissatisfied with her life, at age fifty, she makes a life changing decision. Her new found road to romance is full of pot holes, but her sense of humor helps smooth the way. The tragic loss of loved ones causes her to doubt God's goodness and greatness. She ponders, "What's it all about?" Her torment leads her to thoughts of suicide, but she senses in her spirit that there has to be a way to a peaceful coexistence with God. She returns to traditional religion and finds no solace there. After studying various philosophies, she is led to search further into mystic teachings, and many years later finds herself headed for the higher ground.
