Give Me Ten Seconds

A deliciously funny insider account of British politics and of the BBC from one of our most highly regarded and well-liked broadcasters. John Sergeant is the BBC's Political Correspondent and is widely respected both by the denizens of the Houses of Parliament and fellow journalists. More crucially for our purposes, he is extremely well-liked and - even more crucially - extremely funny. It was Sergeant who broke the story of Ron Davies' extraordinary carryingson on Clapham Common and Sergeant who shortly thereafter was killingly funny about it all on Radio 4's News Quiz. Since then, he has begun to appear regularly on shows like Room 101, on which he spoke compellingly about his views on shoes, and the buying of shoes, among other quirky topics. He tells a brilliant story, has a mine of them and this book could emulate the remarkable success of John Simpson's Strange Places, Questionable People. There is nothing to see - we approached him direct. Weidenfeld are also sniffing around but they want him to do a deeply serious revelatory book about Brit politics for the last 30 years (snore). Mark Lucas has put in a bid to represent him but we have a window of opportunity to snap him up before this happens.
