Lying facedown in Docklands mud, saintly Sir Tommy Best, Britain's best-loved entertainer and tireless charity benefactor, is found dead. His guide dog, Suzy, is found cowering a mile away. With no clues or witnesses to the killing, the case is assigned to the brilliant DCI Ned Bale. But police dog-handler Kate Baker, believes that Suzy holds the secret of her master's fate. The public turns the wharf into a shrine and the tabloids bay for blood.
