John Keble (1792 - 1886) was an English clergyman and part of the Oxford Movement. After writing The Christian Year its success led to his being nominated to the Chair of Poetry at Oxford. The Christian Year was so popular that 95 editions were printed during Keble's lifetime. The book has a poem for every day of the year. There are several hymns included. This book was exceedingly popular during the 19th century and is beginning in the 21st century to receive more interest.
