Bible Black Belts: Scripture with a Kick!
Description:
Surveys reflect that few adults know the Bible very well. This resource will assist in teaching children about the books of the Bible for lifelong Bible competence and a love of Scripture. It is a curriculum that offers up to nine months of material most likely to be used during a school year. Each month will be a different level and a different belt that includes one main passage of Scripture each month: Sept – how to use the Bible and the Torah Oct – explore remainder of the Old Testament and how to find Scripture Nov – New Testament books Dec – Peaceable Kingdom passage January – paraphrase of Ten Commandments Feb – The Lord’s Prayer March – 23rd Psalm April – Beatitudes (paraphrased) May – parables (children will be able to retell two parables) Written into the curriculum will be Words of Celebration (Psalms), Words of Comfort, Words of Wisdom (Proverbs), and Words of Jesus. Activities will help children memorize Bible verses and each activity uses physical motion in some way. Every passage of Scripture used will include it’s own unique physical activity to ensure that 60-70 different physical activities exist including games, reflection, movement, percussion, and so forth. In the resource Mark Burrows talks about how it can be adapted: either as part of a regular Sunday school class, paired with Wednesday evening program, choir program, spring break option, or summer program
