The Bird Killeraa

It is 1918. The German high command, recognizing that it is losing the war, determines to make one final effort to turn the tide. Out of desperation, they commission an eccentric aeronautical engineer named Hans Forsmann to design an intercontinental bomber having the capability of flying the Atlantic, dropping its bombs on New York City and returning to Germany. This part is not fiction. Construction had actually begun on this “Reisenflugzeug,” or giant plane. The plans and several components were discovered by an Allied commission which visited Germany in 1919. These items now reside in the Imperial War Museum in London. What would have happened if this giant bomber had actually completed its mission?
