The Mother's Book

The Mother's Book was published in 1831. Its Author, Lydia Maria Child, had already received acclaim as a novelist and the author of a popular book of domestic advice. While this volume never earned the enthusiastic following of The American Frugal Housewife among 19th century readers, it provides late 20th century readers with a comprehensive view of childhood and motherhood a century and a half ago.
