The Ascension of Isaiah: Translated From the Ethiopic Version, Which, Together With the New Greek Fragment, the Latin Versions and the Latin Translation of the Slavonic, Is Here Published in Full (Cla
Description:
The Ascension of Isaiah has been translated and assessed by countless scholars over time. Each assessment comes with a varied level of commentary and a varying level of quality in the Ethiopic text. For as full a picture of the text as possible this volume remains faithful to an accurate image of the original symbols and includes the Greek and Latin legend for context. This book is tripartite with one part of Jewish origin and the following two of Christian origin. Whilst it does not constitute a canonical part of either faith, it certainly has an impact on the way in which biblical mythology is conceived. R.H. Charles was a distinguished scholar in his area and contributed to other scholars working in the field over many years with his linguistic analysis. He portrays a variety of narratives that are absent from mainstream Christian traditions including the anticipation of the Antichrist as well as the canonical belief in the second coming of Christ. This volume also allows us to appreciate the diversity of biblical myth in the early part of the era following the birth of Christ prior to the organised concentration and editing of biblical tales. Charles also maintained that we need information about the corruption of the early church in order to appreciate the content of the Bible. This work will be of keen interest to those who enjoy biblical history, myth and comparative linguistic study. It is the work of a linguist, a librarian and a lover of stories.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
