Essentials of General, Organic, & Biochemistry 2e & Sapling Single-Course General, Organic, and Biochemistry Homework (Access Card)
Description:
New Two-Chapter Introduction
Chapter 1, Measuring Matter and Energy, now focuses on measuring matter and energy, thus introducing energy early in the course
Chapter 2, Atomic Structure and Nuclear Radiation now covers atomic structure, including a streamlined coverage of nuclear radiation (previously in Chapter 16)[Chapter 1] really does a great job of tying together the science of chemistry with the measurement components
Martin Brock, Eastern Kentucky UniversityI really like the inclusion of nuclear chemistry in Chapter 2. It fits well there and is a critical topic for allied health students.
John Singer, Jackson Community CollegeChapter 4, Chemical Quantities and Chemical Reactions, now introduces the concept of the mole, along with balancing equations, enthalpy, kinetics, and a new section on chemical equilibrium.
I like the combination of topics presented in the new, totally redesigned chapter 4. The topics flow well from counting molecules -> moles -> chemical reactions -> energy -> kinetics -> equilibrium.Chapter 1, Measuring Matter and Energy, now focuses on measuring matter and energy, thus introducing energy early in the course

Milagros Delgado, Florida International University, Bay VistaChapter 7, Organic Chemistry and Biomolecules includes a new section on stereochemistry and integrates the structure of the important biomolecules while introducing the functional groups. The inclusion of biological molecules helps tie chemistry to the health care field.
Krys Wallace, Blue Mountain Community College
The last five chapters (11-15) are presented in a new order: Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Nucleic Acids, and ending in a chapter on Catabolism and Bioenergetics. The biochemical pathways now appear in Chapter 15 rather than among Chapters 11-14.New Photos, many taken by the author, bring authentic images of actual clinical practice to the textbook, further connecting what students are learning with real-life practice. newphotos.jpg
