With their focus on providing support for academic writing, the Writing Centers' friendly writing consultants are trained to provide reliable advice about student writing_on projects ranging from résumés and personal statements to formal essays. In a typical twenty- to thirty-minute session, writing consultants, who are also University students, offer help understanding assignments and suggestions regarding development of ideas, audience consideration, documentation of sources, organization, research strategies, style, and/or grammar. Although a visit to the Writing Center cannot guarantee you an "A," a majority of students improve their understanding of writing, and thus their grades, when they visit the University of Mississippi Writing Centers.
