British Animals Extinct Within Historic Times With Some Account of British Wild White Cattle

Vienna 1939, Professor Speckstein's dog has been killed and he wants to know why. Dr Beer is introduced to Speckstein's flirtatious niece Zuzka, who reveals to him the strange habits of their neighbours. Does one of these neighbours have blood on their hands? Despite having reasons to protect his privacy, Beer becomes embroiled in an enquiry that forces him to face the dark truth of Nazi rule.
