This is a collection of the tactics of those unusual third moves by Black, Bird's Defense 3...Nd4, the Old Steinitz Defense 3...d6, the counterattacking Schliemann Defense 3...f5, the Classical Defense 3...Bc5, Berlin Defense 3...Nf6 and the Exchange Variation 3...a6 4.Bxc6. Study the more common tactics found within an opening you face and you will come away with an understanding of the real dynamics of the opening and pick up tactics you can already use.
