Wave and Whirlwind (The Myers/Benton Chronicle)
Description:
Wave and Whirlwind is a novel duo: Mato-sa and Afloat, which are Volumes 2 and 3 of the Myers/Benton Chronicles. Although each title may be read as a stand-alone novel, the duo is intended to be read as a single work. In 1955, Karl Myers heads west to find his long-lost wife, and in the process, he also encounters a prison break, unresolved murders, his wife’s bigamy, a son he never knew, and the place his heart is destined to call home. Bill Benton finds Port Townsend claustrophobic because of circumstances caused by the presence of his father, and prompted by Bambi Macey, a brilliant and beautiful young woman who is terrified of the town's collective rebuke for something small-town America is not yet ready to accept in the 1950's, Bill agrees to run away with her to the South Pacific aboard a stolen yawl. Myers faces a contrary challenge: accepting the responsibilities that accrue when one's world has shrunk to the size of a small town on Washington's Olympic Peninsula.
