Two Souls

Ocke de Boer s first book Higher Being Bodies (2014) was praised by reviewers for its practical approach to building souls. Paul Beekman Taylor, a personal student of G.I. Gurdjieff, described that book as an extraordinary record of one man s understanding of The Work the system of Gurdjieff s teaching.

Now, with the publication of his second book, Two Souls, the practical possibilities and means for creating a second body are explored in greater depth. Chapter topics include: How to Live Freely, Playing a Role, Learning To Use Time, Planes, Reason of Understanding, How to Really Incarnate, Inner Considering, Self-Remembering and Creating Moon in Oneself.

David Kherdian writes in the Foreword to Two Souls: As I look around I see more and more that the Work is not third force in our lives, and what is truly alarming is that we fool ourselves into thinking we are working for Being when all along it is life that is the blinding attraction, now further complicated by those who seek a position in the Work from a life point of view. We need, each and every one of us, to open our eyes to our actual situation, and then strengthen our resolve to walk the narrow path laid out for us by our own fate and destiny.

Now to the revelation first mentioned: our potential for a resurrected second body. Not in my school, nor any other school that I ever visited or participated in or examined, either close up or from a distance, was this potential, this promise, made known to us. Given where humanity is now it is hard to believe that we are at this threshold, and yet the Work cannot go forward from here without a giant leap forward, not into the unknown, but to the possibility that Ocke has made available for us with new practices and his own wisdom, and also by returning us again to the source, Gurdjieff himself, who pointed us to the Heart as the home of the Work, to Feeling as the basis of Being, and Love as the light for awakening.
