Confessions of a Survivor: What Parents/Teachers Should Know About Anorexia
Description:
For ten years, Syanne Centeno was possessed by a demon named “Ana.” More specifically, she suffered from a common adolescent eating and psychiatric disorder named “Anorexia Nervosa,” or “Ana.” Though the disorder is common, Syanne’s journey is anything but ordinary. After facing bullying in school, Syanne stumbled upon this illness that deceives one to starve as much as possible and focus on maintaining a dangerously low weight. Many who suffer from Anorexia often die before reaching adulthood. However, Syanne’s story is different. During her treacherous journey, Syanne cycled through phases of starving, being hospitalized and receiving counseling/treatment, only to go back to Ana. Then Syanne found God. And through embracing His love, she learned to turn her back on Ana for good. Today, after having served a reign as Miss Maryland and establishing a nonprofit called the Warrior Princess Initiative, Syanne can say she has finally triumphed over Ana. Read about her extraordinary journey.
