Blue Lights in my Rearview

This book is a comprehensive study of the adverse history of police actions towards black men in America. The study details the inception of the American police as slave patrols. Then, it recounts certain eras of laws and mandates that were designed and enforced by American government and police to subvert, subjugate, and criminalize the black race. These periods include the slave codes, the black codes, the reconstruction era, Jim Crow, the Civil Rights era, CoIntelPro, the crack era, the crime bill, stop and frisk and the current era of police genocide. This work includes examples from each era of how police have been used to carry out injustice against the black male. This book also includes personal experiences of the author and his peers, as well as references to situations that he has knowledge of and witnessed. There is also an examination of the most recent high-profile national cases that have gained wide exposure and caused mass outrage amongst the American public. There is also a critique of the modern day police department and its tactics, along with proposed solutions and remedies of how police should carry out their duties and be selected. Then there is an examination of what could be done on an institutional and personal level to bring change to this problem. This book is written to further the conversation and bring awareness to little known examples and documentation of police and government misconduct and corruption.
