The Great War has taken no less a toll on beautiful young Marie Duval than on their nearby village and France as a whole. Too near the Western Front’s trenches, the Duval farm has been ravaged along with their entire valley. The lives taken of many close to Marie has made her the family farm’s only able body, toughening the mademoiselle beyond her years.But in the waning days of 1918, a handsome American pilot crashes onto the farm, needing Marie and her father’s care to save his life. His recovery alongside an injured British pilot comes as the Armistice ending the fighting brings hope for a lasting peace.
