Description:
Faces of Diversity ("The Student Support Network:" Managing Diversity on Campus), Fourth Edition highlights the inception and success of "The Student Support Network." As the Associate Director of Counseling and Advising for Minority Student Affairs at Cornell University (1998), I had the opportunity to work with, and learn from a great number of students on campus. These students, minority and non-minority voiced their need for leadership opportunities and platforms to not only express themselves, but to learn across their differences. As a result of this collaboration, four-hundred plus students worked with me on a daily basis to implement and facilitate thirty-two programs and activities for students on and off campus. Many of which were the first at Cornell University. The Student Support Network in less than three months brought individuals together, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation) across campus for the sake of sharing ideas/ experiences, and to exchange information. "The Student Support Network" became a model of what needs to be done on campuses across the nation. All rights reserved.
