The Last Bus to Camden
Description:
Rocky Wilson's The Last Bus to Camden is the culmination of over two years of editing and compiling many of Rocky's best poems together into his debut book. This poet has been on the scene for decades, and has become something of a local legend, but it wasn't until 2013 that Lamont Steptoe suggested Rocky put together a book of poetry. At Steptoe's behest, Sean Lynch began working on the collection, first by typing up mounds of handwritten poems, then by poring over the lines of verse with Rocky. After hundreds of hours spent in the Paul Robeson library, and a successful Kickstarter campaign,The Last Bus to Camden was released by Moonstone Press on February 13th, 2016: the 188th Birthday of the city of Camden. The Last Bus to Camden has gained praise from the likes of MacDowell and Yaddo Fellow Jim Cory, who says that, "Rocky Wilson's the real thing: not another rubber stamped MFA poet but a writer whose work begins from feeling & builds its case for what is felt in sure, solid lines..." Peter Murphy of Stockton University notes that, "Rocky Wilson is not just the muse of Camden, New Jersey, the poorest city in these rich, un-united states, he is its soul..." Courier Post's Tammy Paolino calls The Last Bus to Camden, "...an inviting revelry offering gentle works infused with references to the natural world..."
