Dan Hess is a real cowboy poet. He comes from a family of horse and mule traders on both sides that stretch back four generations. His maternal grandmother’s people were Oklahoma cowboys in the early 1900’s, in what is now called the Golden Age of Rodeo. His mother was born in a wagon behind a team of horses in 1899.Dan Hess’ poems strike at the very heart and essence of the American Cowboy and presents true images of a disappearing breed with which young cowboy’s of today can easily relate. His often touching, sometimes-humorous stories and verse paint beautiful pictures with words of a time that is silently passing away.
