Doves And Hawks
Description:
After ten years in the United States, Ehud returns to Israel to find the young country reveling in its recent military victory over Egypt, Syria and Jordan in the 1967 war. Still deeply influenced by his involvement in the US movements for Civil Rights and against the war in Vietnam,he finds that his old Israeli friends have been deeply influenced by two entirely different forces, first - the trauma caused by fear of the upcoming war, and then - the jubilation over the victory and the occupation of vast territories. But Ehud sees the control over millions of Palestinians as a threat to the future to his beloved homeland. Returning to the United States a year later, he is astonished to discover that many of the former "doves" on Vietnam have become "hawks" on the Middle East, while many Vietnam "hawks" have become "doves" on the Middle East. He establishes a partnership with a Palestinian physicist to develop plans for peace in the Middle East.
