COExisting With Nature: A story of love, life and courage in the nation's parks and Alaska's wilderness
Description:
COExisting With Nature is a story of love, life and courage in America’s national parks and Alaska’s rugged wilderness. An adventurous young couple, Darrell and Jean Coe, began their married life when Darrell became a park ranger in the secluded East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The Coes traveled to Alaska in the 1960s, where Darrell worked as a park ranger at then-Mount McKinley National Park and Katmai National Park and Preserve. An ironic twist of fate tested the park ranger’s ethics, so he left the National Park Service to pursue another passion: teaching. The Coes embarked on a second career as schoolteachers in remote regions of Alaska. Unfortunately, a deadly cancer brought Darrell’s life to an end all too soon. Jean Coe continued their work, and today is retired and lives in Fairbanks.
