Intriguing Discoveries with the Naturalis-in-Training
Description:
This, my third book, Intriguing Discoveries with the Naturalist-in-Training, is in three sections. The first, entitled "Among Those of the Gray Wind" desceribes traveling to Nebraska with my dear friend, Inez Pottorff of Hotchkiss, to see some of the 500,000 Sandhill Cranes that pass through the Platte River. We saw literally thousands of cranes in the windy cold of a Nebraska March. The second portion concerns the spring wildflowers of our immediate area: Sego Lilies, Desert Mallow, Uinta Hookless Cactus to name just a few. Most of the time our 'dobes look just gray and tan: But given some moisture the flowers can be amazing. In the third portion, I return to the spring migration of our Sandhill Cranes at Hart's Basin (Fruitgrowers Reservoir on maps) near Delta, Colorado. Old familiar ground, but new experiences.
And again, all of the observations and information in this third bok are new. I keep discovering the most exciting things! Since this is the first time I have used the title of "naturalist-in-Training," this new book is labeled as Intriguing Discoveries with the Naturalist-in-Training, Volume 1. And the Naturalis-in-Training has completed a good portion of the next book, The Blue-shadowed Mountains.
