The Secret of the Old Red Bridge

The book tells the story of a wife whose brutal husband leaves to join the Civil War and becomes a renegade, unbeknownst to her. She gives birth to a girl after he leaves, develops a prosperous farm, marries off a son, and establishes a life for herself. His return only brings a disaster to her family and brings justice to him.
