There's a big couch in my office, forest green with dark gold stripes. People who come to see me usually sit there to talk and tell their stories. But I don't hear only the person sitting across from me. I am always amazed at how many other voices are present when I am talking to people. Some talk to me as you would, others seem to come from visions, still others just appear in my mind. They seem to come from the other side of the couch, hovering in my mind just out of normal means of perception. They come from another world, a real world, but different from the ordinary reality of two people just sitting and talking.
