In the fall of 2006, tragedy struck Ruth's family when her beautiful, precious granddaughter, Samantha Rose Baer, passed away very suddenly at the young age of sixteen months. Ruth became inspired by her three year old grandson, Jacob, Samantha's brother, to record his thoughts, comments, questions, and memories of his sister. It is through this grieving process that Ruth became motivated to create a book which could help children and families deal with the devastating loss of a loved one.
