Merari's Hope

The Biblical story of Noah's Arc is a story that has been told for centuries. The story often focuses on the animals, the flood, and the destruction of the world. However there is another aspect of the story that is often forgotten. The story of a passenger in the arc, a young woman named Merari. Merari is the daughter of a wealthy family living in the town with Noah's family. Merari meets and falls in love with Japeth even though their lives and values are very different. Merari loves Japeth but continually struggles with whether or not to believe in Japeth's God and the pending doom Japeth's father, Noah continues to preach. Merari's doubts are somewhat reassured by her mother when her Mother speaks of a Hope that is yet to come and that Merari should believe in Japeth, Noah, and their God. Merari decides to marry Japeth but then even more questions and doubts arise when God sends the flood. Merari's journey in the arc is one that is filled with fear, excitement, and a new knowledge of a God who has trapped a family in an arc and sent destruction on the world. Even though everything Merari knew has been destroyed and all she is left with his her new family, an arc full of animals, and many unanswered questions she soon discovers and learns of the Hope that is to come.
