A Campus Becoming Lester M Wolfson and Indiana University South Bend 1964-1987

The appointment in 1964 of Les Wolfson to lead Indiana University's little campus in South Bend proved to be a fortuitous, harmonic convergence. From his under-graduate and doctoral years in English at the University of Michigan and his faculty appointments at Wayne State University he brought a clear and abiding vision of the values of a traditional university and the needs of a regional commuter campus.
