Description:

ABOUT THE BOOK The Eisenhower Legacy: A Tribute to Ida Stover Eisenhower and David Jacob Eisenhower chronicles their lives together raising six rambunctious boys - Arthur, Edgar, Dwight, Roy, Earl and Milton. As poor boys coming from parents who were highly educated for the time and place, the boys developed an unusual consciousness about being the Eisenhowers. Life was never easy during those times, their collective success seemingly stemming from strict discipline, Bible study, regular church attendance and adherence to the Golden Rule. They made lives of their own, leaving a legacy for future generations of Eisenhowers. "This book, researched with incredible thoroughness and highly readable, may well turn out to be the most definitive treatment ever written on the Eisenhowers of Abilene. It is a history, not only of a single family, but also of a Western culture, the memory of which is worth keeping." John S. D. Eisenhower, son of Dwight David Eisenhower 34th President of the United States ABOUT THE AUTHOR Kaye Eisenhower Morgan grew up in the Monongahela River Valley, south of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Charleroi High School, she attended Penn State University, but left there to pursue a course in business at the Moser School in Chicago. While living there, she met her husband, Tom, whom she soon married, and then moved to Kansas City, due to her husband's job. Thereafter, job opportunities resulted in their transferring to Houston, Cincinnati and finally Rockford, Illinois. Of her four children, two were born in Houston and two in Madeira (near Cincinnati), Ohio. Leaving Illinois in 1971, they settled in Arizona, where she lived until 2009. Kaye currently resides in Arroyo Grande, California. Kaye has always been interested in history, especially since World War II brought it so close to home, her Uncle Ike being the general in charge of the invasion of Germany in 1944, and later President of the United States.
