OBIWU received his Ph.D. (with distinction) in English with emphasis on Critical Theory from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York and wrote his dissertation on In the Name of the Father: Lacanian Reading of Four White South African Writers. Tigress at Full Moon is his second volume of poetry since Rituals of the Sun (1992). Obiwu's other publications have been widely acclaimed. He won the Donatus Nwoga Prize for Literary Criticism in Poetry (2009) with his essay on "The Ecopoetics of Christopher Okigbo and Ezra Pound." He was a fellow of the Presidential Leadership Institute, Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio (2011) and a fellow of the International School of Theory in the Humanities (1998). His other awards include the Charanjit Rangi Leadership Award for Faculty Professional Excellence from Central State University (2008) and the Resolution Recognition (No. 07-4-12-31) from the Greene County Board of Commissioners of Ohio (2007). Obiwu teaches English in the Department of Humanities, Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
