The Power to Soar Higher, by Peter Legge, is an inspirational collection of ideas targeted towards motivating the reader to reach his or her true potential. Also titled How to Build a Gold Medal Business, Legge's book focuses on pushing everyone as far as they can go by stating his belief that everyone's capacities are limitless as long as we are motivated, from within and without, to achieve the goals we set out to achieve.Legge starts off with words of encouragement. He claims that we, humans, "thrive on achievement and the bigger we dream, the more we can achieve"(Legge, p. 21). As such, Legge starts his book off by addressing possible road blocks in achieving one's dream. He encourages everyone to write down, and, in turn, visualize their goals. He follows up on his ideas of visualizing goals by claiming that it is never too late in one's life to strive for their dreams. The opening chapter is a call for the reader to strive for seemingly unreasonably goals, in the claim that all goals are reasonable.Legge continues by emphasizing the significance of one's attitude when striving towards the completion of one's goals. However, as Legge continues, he delves into topics of importance regarding business. He goes beyond individual ambitions and begins to describe how first impressions, as well as the general satisfaction of the customer has the potential to make or break possible relations between one's company and the business offered by the dissatisfied or unimpressed individual. Within this portion of his book Legge offers a valuable piece of advice to his reader. He advises every reader to take time with every single customer they have. He makes note of very insightful observations on his part.
