The battle of the Dutch Resistance against the German army is the untold, yet perhaps most important legacy, of Holland during WWII.

Though the German invasion of Holland during WWII was swift and clean, there was other real estate owned by the Dutch that did not yield to the iron will of the FÜhrer. This greater battle took place in the hearts and minds of the Dutch people, an ideological war of national purpose that said Though our country has fallen, we will not yield. You may rule our land, but you will not rule our hearts. This was the battle of the Dutch Resistance, fought through ordinary people in everyday situations. From underground newspapers to factory walkouts to smuggling downed ally pilots across borders to secretly tracking movement of German troops, the Dutch Resistance worked tirelessly to unite Holland in an effort to weaken a much stronger enemy with much greater resources. This was the Dawn of Courage, a ray of hope kindled in the heart of Dutch kinsman that ultimately prevailed in helping defeat the German war effort.
