When an enterprising young man is promoted to a position of responsibility in the perfidious world of Postal Transportation Contracting, and initiates a project to render some of the fat out of his transportation budget, he incurs the wrath of those manipulating the system and the indifference of his superiors. Ron is shocked at being accused of extortion and rape, and is highly offended by the apathy of the transportation hierarchy and the derision of his so-called friends and co-workers, then his spirits plummet even further when he is informed that Herschel Birdwell, an inexperienced Postal Service attorney, has been assigned to defend him.
