The Punishing God

There is a lack of attention to the biblical theme of punishment in contemporary theology and preaching. Many contemporary Christians are ignoring this teaching in the Bible, especially in their understanding of sin, guilt and punishment. Some church growth conferences or seminars recommend that churches stay away from the subjects of sin, judgment and punishment if they want people to attend or at least to attend their services in significant numbers. It is this challenge that has provided the impetus for this book. This book is not a sensational conversation about punishment, but a responsible examination of this theme in the Bible and Christian history.
