When a prominent matriarch turns up murdered in her antique shop in Covington, Rhode Island, her grieving granddaughter, Antonia Stanton, and Ian Monroe, the detective assigned to the case, find not only the killer but a budding romance. As Antonia struggles to deal with her anguish and bury her beloved grandmother, her cousin Carlton DeWitt, the black sheep of her family, shows up unexpectedly for a visit. Unable to pay off a gambling debt, Carlton pretends to play the part of the supportive cousin, in hopes of convincing Antonia to give him some money. In the process, he finds out about family heirlooms that once belonged to the Russian Grand Duchess, Olga Romanova. Believing these heirlooms are the key to solving his financial troubles, Carlton is willing to do whatever it takes to get his hands on them. Even if it means forcing Antonia to fight for her life to keep what is rightfully hers.
