Benning's War: A Novel Of The American Revolution

Isaac Benning has fought for the Rebel cause since 1775. By 1780 he is promoted to Sergeant and leads the Third Virginia Regiment in The Battle of The Waxhaws, which ends in disaster. Angered and ashamed at the outcome, Isaac goes home. He can no longer face the horrors of war. However, continuing Indian incursions lead him to reconsider. He must 'do his duty'. Along the way, Isaac befriends a band of Indians trying to find their way free of the conflagration, and he leads his men into the battle at Kings Mountain. A woman steals his heart, he makes friends who stand beside him in battle, and he becomes the man he was meant to be.
