Historic Franklin Tennessee
Description:
In the late 1780s, when the area that would become Tennessee was still a part of North Carolina, the first pioneers ventured out from the safety of the fledging settlement of Fort Nashborough and began settling in the lush valleys to the south. A few years later, the village of Franklin was staked out on a graceful bend of the Harpeth River. Through two centuries, Franklin has witnessed first hand the passing of monumental events and milestones in our nation's history. The town has grown and is far removed today from that original dream of founder Abram Maury. However, Franklin continues to beckon visitors with her unique historic character, stately homes along tree-lined streets, quaint shops and festivals, and a gracious Southern hospitality.
