Festival - 15 years of Dance Performance in Fire Island

Produced by and benefiting Dancers Responding to AIDS, FESTIVAL is a 88-pages, full-color coffee table paperback, highlighting the work of acclaimed dance photographer Rosalie O Connor. With the generous support and artistic collaboration of David Benaym, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Movmnt Magazine. The book celebrates 15 years of Fire Island Dance Festival created by DRA's founder and Director, Denise Roberts. Launched in September 2009, FESTIVAL captures the festival s spectacular backdrop, Long Island s Great South Bay, and records breathtaking dance moments from the last five years of the event. DRA s Fire Island Dance Festival is hailed as one of the most thrilling social events and dance performances of each year. World renowned dance photographer Rosalie O Connor has captured the kinetic essence of the festival through these exquisite photos taken over the past several years. Conceptualized by Denise Roberts and David Benaym, FESTIVAL was designed by Christopher Giarmo with text by Joseph Carman. Some of the renowned companies featured in this gorgeous book include The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, Complexions, Bad Boys of Dance, The Paul Taylor Dance Company, MOMIX and Ballet Hispanico. Dancers featured include, among many more, Rasta Thomas, Danny Tidwell, Travis Wall, Marcello Gomez. The book is the result of a successful collaboration between O Connor, Benaym, dance writer Joseph Carman and graphic designer Chris Giarmo.
